The company is preparing a professional mixed ability dance performance devised by the dancers and the Artistic Director and Choreographer Fernanda Amaral. The production will create a landscape of bodies in movement by a mixed group of disabled and non-disabled women dancers. The work is based on the techniques of DanceAbility and the premise of creative equality challenging preconceptions of dis/ability and working from sensation to movement using the creative dynamic of the group to create a piece that is challenging, affirming and real.
The show has been created in collaboration with Chapter Arts Centre and funded by the Arts Council of Wales following a successful pilot project in 2007. It will be premiered at Chapter on 9th and 10th October.
Open Workshops
The company will also offers workshops led by Fernanda and the company members giving a practical introduction to DanceAbility and reflecting Fernanda’s twenty years’ professional dance career and ten years specialization in mixed-ability dance. Participants of all ability levels and experience are welcome.
