As part of Secondary Schools Action Day for Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship (ESDGC) and Eco-Schools issues, Fernanda Amaral provided an Afro-Brazilian Dance workshop. It was very successful and lots of the participants enjoyed the afternoon, finding it to be one of the most interesting parts of the day.

This promises to lead to further training sessions for other INSET days with Keep Wales Tidy. Patuá Dance has already received invitations to work with new secondary schools as a result of this association.

CARDIFF, WALES — Get fit and have fun at Patuá Dance’s new Afro-Brazilian Dance classes.

Fresh from Brazil, Fernanda Amaral wants to warm you up and get you laughing with your body during Patuá Dance’s Afro-Brazilian dance classes, NOW every Monday, 7.00-8.30pm, at the Chapter Arts Centre, at First Space, Market Road, Canton.

“I never thought I could dance until I met Fernanda. I felt that my whole body was smiling,” admits one beginner.

Classes are open to everyone, regardless of age, experience or ability, and are held in a fun, supportive atmosphere. Come along and bring a friend so you will get a free class!

Patuá Dance’s Artistic Director Fernanda Amaral conducted meetings in Brazil, which went very well, with a strong possibility that Patuá Dance will return to Brazil in the autumn of 2009.

Funding success!

Patuá Dance has been busy applying for funding to support its many projects and is grateful for its recent successes, especially for the Arts for All Wales grant for its project “We Dance the Beautiful Game!” and an Arts Council of Wales grant for “Patuá DanceAbility”, which will premiere in Chapter Arts Centre this year.
